Through Lines 087
This, the first ever video for the George Harrison classic My Sweet Lord is chock full of fun celebrity cameos that I found myself chuckling along the entire time — Mark Hammil, Taika Wattiti, Jeff Lynne, Reggie Watts, Patton Oswalt, Jon Hamm, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Ringo(!), and so many others. I also immediately recognized the book tunnel at The Last Bookstore in LA. Love that place.
- It is indeed more than time to admit that Genesis has always been a great band.
- The Opal C1 camera hardware sounds great, but $4/month for the software…
- I can’t imagine the stress of working on a project like the James Webb Telescope where, if something goes wrong during deployment, there’s really no hope of fixing it.
- To go along with the above, this video from Dr. Kevin Hainline (who I’m so pleased to actually know in real life) brings the JWST project to life. Kevin is a truly incredible storyteller, the kind who can hold your attention to a scary degree.
- Severance will either be terrifying or something I’d be first in line to sign up for.
- I’m a big Dan Rhatigan fan so this little interview with him was a fun read this week.
- SharpType’s Yule Ogg is the holiday fireplace video I am here for.
- XYZ Type (aka Jesse Ragan) released Elevator and Escalator this week, I mean, not that anyone needs another geometric sans. Except maybe this one.
- HvD’s Palast caught my eye, not only for some of the delightful symbols that are included within this type superfamily.
- I’ll always have a soft spot for type that references hand painted signage. Sign Guy from Searfoss Design is no exception, particularly the Faded style.
- Shatter77, a revival of a Letraset classic, free right now from Lineto.
- How to use a comma. I feel seen.
