Fix of the Week Award
Every week, employees at Facebook are provided the opportunity to hear directly from leadership about what’s happening within the company and on people’s minds. During these events, a special award is handed out to recognize substantial efforts, known as the “Fix of the Week.”

In early 2017, I designed the first physical manifestation of the award. Although the brief was wide open, the question was really what would be exciting, unexpected, and fun for recipients in a largely engineering-led organization?
What I developed was a functional object — one made for engineers and makers — not just an inanimate one to sit on a desk or shelf. Building on a Raspberry Pi circuitboard, the award was fitted with a custom laser-cut and etched acrylic panel, walnut base, and custom modeled USB plug to connect everything together.
