It’s during a crisis when the challenge, importance, and impact of those on the frontline become clearly visible. Nurses, doctors, clinicians, and other specialists on the frontlines of the COVID-19 global pandemic are asked to work under adverse conditions and their personal safety is at risk every day.

Through a close partnership with the Facebook facilities team and the city of Menlo Park, I designed a new temporary transformation of the Thumbs Up monument outside Facebook headquarters as a humble gesture of appreciation to all essential workers, but especially those in local communities surrounding the office. This experience was released concurrently at Facebook’s international HQ in Dublin, Ireland.
